Leaf Bug

My son and I went for a walk and ran across this guy hanging out at the gas station.

Once upon a time, in the land known as Ikea..

Had my first experience with IKEA yesterday.  I went with my sister, and her friend, and my two nieces.  The Ikea store is about an hour away from where I live so with a 6 year old it’s a pretty long drive, but tolerable.  UNLESS you use directions from Mapquest.  Then it’s a two hour drive and really, not that exciting.  Especially if aforementioned six year old gets a little wonky and you have to pull over on the highway. 🙂

So, after one stop on the side of the highway, one stop at a gas station to ask directions (from a very nice man who was trying to get to a Detroit Tigers game, and who expressed much sympathy for my sisters friend when he found out the man was being forced to go to Ikea, especially with four females.)  (Did I mention the gas station has no restrooms) One stop at a Wendys to use the bathrooms, we finally made it to IKEA.

Wow, that place is overwhelming!  For those of you who have been to an IKEA I’m sure you’ll understand how bad it was when you realize we were there on a Saturday at 3:00 pm.  It was packed.  We got lost trying to find one of the restaurants.  That’s a BIG store.

Picked up a bunch of odds and ends, and came back on home.  Took less than an hour to drive home.  I would go back again. Now that I know what’s there and what it entails I would enjoy spending a day shopping. I love the selection of textiles.

Allie – stop reading here.
I really enjoy spending time with my older niece.  We were really close when she was little and we spend a lot of time together.  Then she went through that only able to giggle maniacally not a clear thought in her head stage, and now she’s coming into her own personality.  She’s 13 (?) and it’s fun to talk to her again. I love kids, and I love playing with little kids but there is something so fun about spending time with people in their early teens.  You can laugh, and joke and get out that silly side of you, and flip on a dime into a serious conversation.

I guess that’s about it for me today.  On to all the normal Sunday stuff! Gonna cook Swedish Meatballs for dinner.  There’s a big shock isn’t it?

OH WAIT!  Kellie – if you made it this far, you’ve always reminded me of someone and I could never quite figure out who it was but I got it!  There is a designer who works on the TLC show, While you Were out, her name is Nadia Geller (not sure about the spelling) and for some reason you really remind me of her.  So from here on out I shall think of you as Nadia!
