Friday Stuff

 clickity clackity on the keyboard
I tip I top I type
The metronome of work

I was sitting at my desk with one earbud in listening to some nice dance music while I was working and I started hearing strange noises.  My desk mate was wearing two earbuds but when I looked over he was looking around quizzically as well.  We have a security camera system in the building so I looked at the monitor I didn’t see anyone but it sounded like someone was trying to break in our office.  The noise continued and I finally stood up and got my meanest look on while I went to the door and saw a good looking man cleaning my windows.  Yay!

I had a call with my boss this morning and when I picked up the phone I was laughing.  She said they don’t laugh in her office.  She’s in the corporate office in Sweden.  I’ve also been told there isn’t much laughter in our Texas office.  I don’t know how people do that.  Gotta release the tension sometimes.  I think I will see if I can find the correct mailing address and send her a nerf dart gun for work.

People are often really put off if you pick up the phone with a laugh in your voice.  I don’t know why but I’ve had it happen a number of times.

Big Plans this weekend!  My sister and I are getting up bright and early tomorrow and heading to here  http://www.WomenSEXpo.org. ( I like to type it that way, it makes me smile)  Then I believe we are going dress shopping with my 15 year old niece.  I don’t know what the dress is for, but I imagine it’s homecoming.  Also this weekend will be a movie.  My husband would like to see Ghost Town or How to Lose Friends & Alienate People

Have I ever told you about my Xanga friend TallMan (he really is tall – ask him!) he’s very interesting.  Someday I’m going to do a whole post about him.  I just have to wait for the mood to strike me right.  I’ve been reading his Xanga for a couple of years and I have to tell you there has been some major changes in his life.  He lives in New Jersey, and I always think there is something very interesting that he’s not telling me.  I think he may be a world famous literary figure in hiding, or perhaps an Artist.  He is going to England soon and I’m looking forward to hearing about it when he gets back.

How about a nice video to end today.

  1. I don’t know you get through any kind of job without any kind of sense of humor. Some people found it odd that I was finding humor with the kids I dealt with as a subbing aide this week. Come onnn, the Black Balls story, how can you not find humor in that…….My husband doesn’t get sick very often either but when he does good lord you’d think the work had to come to a halt……… Oh well what are ya gonne do.. Hope you have a great weekend and that your husband feels better soon

  2. I’ve been friends with Tallman for many years. We have known one another from a previous journaling site we both used to be a member of. I’ve known him since about 2000.Love the Lake Erie video. That is the first time I’ve seen the lake since we left the lake house right after Labor Day.

The video made me home sick. What the hell am I doing in the plains?!

  4. @TNuts – It’s funny how people wander over to other sites and still find people you know.  Sometimes I think of Xanga as only having the people I talk to, plus maybe a few more that I run across every once in while.  I’m always startled when I see names I don’t recognize.  Even though intelectually I know there are so many people on here.  Funny, for some reason I thought you lived right by the lake.@OldHippyChick – Gee, could it be all of that fabulous scenery you have now?

  5. I really needed that.  So peaceful and calming.  I could watch that all day.  I could lose myself in that.  I want to go there.  NOW!

  6. I always feel put off when the person who answers my call is laughing, it’s like GIVE ME ALL YOUR ATTENTION and how dare you have a life outside this phone call?  Lol…You make me realize it’s time for me to hit the beach again before the weather starts to suck noisily.

  7. Hello!!!  I’m not a fan of the unknown sound.  When I lived with my parents I heard this weird sound.  Never heard when anyone else was home and everyone gave me a hard time about my mysterious sound.  One day we were sitting around the kitchen and it happened.  My dad looked around and found a piece of weatherstripping that was vibrating because it was really windy outside.  End of mystery.Glad the guy wasn’t an ax murderer and I noticed that you got up to check and not your co-worker.As silly as it seems I think most people think they are being laughed at in that situation.  We were talking about Swedes the other day and Craig mentioned that most of them he has met through work have almost non-existant accents. Is that true for your Swedes? The water is cool.  We have only been to the beach once this year and that was Lake Michigan in Wisconsin.   We like to sit at the beach when it isn’t beach weather and look out into water and distance and contemplate life. Thanks for video!Have a great weekend!

  8. I have had that same sort of reaction when I answer the phone! People don’t seem to think you can enjoy yourself while at work.Au contraire!  But sadly…no hot window washers here! (I do have a hot dentist though!)

  9. @skanickadee – My swedes all speak excellent english, but yes they do have accents.  They are not difficult to understand at all, you can just tell they are not native English speakers.  They apologize because their English is not perfect and I always feel slightly embarrassed that I only speak one language!@Jaded_Raven – Yay for Hot Dentists!  I have one too.  Whole different spin on Dental appointments!

  10. ahhhhhhhh nothing like the sound of surf

Listen to the powerful energy in thise waves.  I love the energy of the water. That Womensexo look like so much fun.  What a great way to go shopping.  Hope you got to see a good movie worth the price of admission.  Many of them have turned out to be disappointing to me and not worth all the media hype.Have a good week,
