Nothing Much

Friday I took apart my work laptop and installed a fan.  It was quite exciting to have it boot back up successfully.  This morning I took apart my work keyboard.  I love this little keyboard that my daughter just gave me, but the arrow keys stick.  After staring at it for a few moments I realize the whole keyboard sits slightly crooked in it’s frame.  So I took it apart, looked at it and realized that it would never work again if I fixed the slant.  So instead I totally Macgyver’d it!  One paper clip and a small piece of tape and all better.
If I lose my job maybe I’ll start a new career as a "fixer".

Taking my husbands car in today to get the brake lights fixed.  It’s not really that fun driving without brake lights.  My husband is coming home a week early and will be home tonight.

Has anyone used Bay Seasoning?  What does it taste like?

  1. I just knew, when you mentioned the car, that you were going to try to fix it, too!  I really dislike messing with hardware.  Guess I’m afraid I’ll break it for good!  I’ve used Bay Seasoning, but it’s been a very long time and I don’t really remember what it tasts like.  Sorry.

  2. Hehe – you are the female McGyver!  That is cool that you were able to fix your keyboard.Did you figure out a program for your Mp3 player?

  3. Wow I’m so impressed!  I’m very much not able to fix things like that.  When my boy was little he used to say “ficky”.  We all still do.  He shakes his head.  Ficky battios – I still say that when something needs batteries.  funny. I’ve only ever used bay seasoning for a crawfish boil.  Maybe that’s not a great judge of what it actually tastes like….

  4. Bay seasoning is excellent in seafood…you have to taste it to understand it.  I’d try it also on Chicken (I thnk there are different kinds).  Good for you fixing your keyboard!

  5. That’s cute, because the guy who fixed it the first time goes by “MacGyverBass”

  6. @skanickadee – Nope, no software yet.  I may have to break down and install iTunes.  For now I’m listening to Orwells, 1984 as an audiobook on my Treadmill. Then I’m going to do Gullivers Travels.  I love the old radio drama format and I keep find new ones released as podcasts.  I just need to find a way to keep them organized.

  7. You go girl!  Bet you could fix that light yourself!  Never had or heard of Bay seasoning.

  8. Yeah, you open a computer repairs shop and I will come over for your repairs.

I thought you were going to fix the car too when you mentioned it.  Way to go on fixing your lap top and that little keybooard.

  10. oh, what a lovely keyboard!and you, a lovely lovely lady!

  11. You should have been an engineer! We chefs just use Bay seasoning as a boil–use it for Shrimp Cocktail shrimp, or as the above says, to boil crawfish. It’s too strong to use as a direct seasoning. It’s full of bay leaves and cloves and such…Did you know the Roman’s laurels (is that right–the leafy rings around the foreheads) were made of bay leaves?

  12. @dancedout – I can’t believe I didn’t think to ask you about the bay seasoning.  I dislike bay leaves, so I’m thinking I won’t like it.  It’s too strong to use sprinkled on something I’m about to broil?  Like fish, or chicken?  I like the compound spice blends to change up my food. I’m currently using blackening seasoning on just about everything that goes into the oven. 🙂

  13. If it’s what I think it is, it’s only good as a “boil.” Go for/learn currys–that’s the mixture to learn about!

  14. Maybe you should change that picture up there to Tinkerbelle!
