Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll and Religion

I was thinking about taboo subjects this morning and then coincidentally this blog kinda of carried the theme to a different place for me.  Must be something in the air that we’re feeling thoughtful with less humor today.

What subjects are you most uncomfortable talking about?

On my facebook quite a few people from my past have started appearing.  Some friends, some acquaintances.  I noticed an odd trend.  I have many people on my friend list who are very vocal about their religion.  I have quite a few on Xanga as well, but you all are different.  For the most part you are people I have met on Xanga.  These are people who I knew as a teenager, and don’t know me as an adult and vice versa.  So I wonder, what would be the fallout if I posted some inflammatory statement.  Perhaps something like,

“I think organized religion is only for people who are not smart enough to make their own decisions”

This is not true, I don’t think that.   I actually envy the peace people get from being so entrenched in their churches and organizations.  But I do have some other opinions that I think would have almost the same effect.  I wonder if I were as vocal as my ultra religious facebook “friends” are, if maybe some of them wouldn’t disappear off of my friends list.  I don’t know.  Maybe I’m just feeling a little sensitive to it because it seems to be such an overwhelming number of them!

Tomorrow  My favorite sexual position, illicit drug, or song.  Haven’t decided yet.
