more conspicuous consumption

This morning a happened to catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and it occurred to me that as we get older, many of our visible body issues would be corrected if our bones just continued to grow a tiny bit each year.  I don’t have a little extra weight, I am just lacking in height.

I ordered shoes in the mail and they came today.  I have a pair of Keds that I really like and they’re getting to beaten up to wear much longer.  So DSW had free shipping and had them in stock, so I ordered two pairs; one white, one brown.  I knew they would fit because I’m already wearing them.

I’m now playing a game of chess online.  The only game I play worse than Scrabble, is Chess.  Now everyone will see my shortcomings.
OH!  I bought a coat today!  This time I got a cloth trench coat from Old Navy.  Nice and simple, nothing fancy.   I think it will be a good jacket for DC.  I am going to do my best not to leave it in the back of a police car this time.

I went in to look at the Coat Cardigans they were advertising for $20.00 but I did not buy one. Again it’s a height issue.  Bulky long cardigans make someone my height look like a hobbit.  They did have some very pretty ones though.  They were going fast.  Everyone was checking out holding one.

I am not terribly exciting today! 🙂

  1. i like shoes.  OK, I hate to actually wear them, but i like them!!!  I consider myself ‘vertically challenged’ but when it comes to clothes, well, F*** it.  I’m 5’4″, but my inseam is 33.  (Companion is 5’11” and inseam is 33)  Last time I went to JCPenney’s (ok, several funerals ago…5 years?) they had like 5 styles of slacks.  BUT, each style came in short, med, lg, and slim, reg, and curvy!)  Where was I going with this…Love the coat!!!

  2. @travelerblue – That Nothing Fits right!

  3. Love Keds and love the trench. You’ll look so Kate Hepburn if you wear them together. How good to be going to D.C. this time of the year. I wish I could go there. It’s on my short list for places to visit or maybe move to. Now, the police car thing intrigues me all to heck.

  4. You are so right! Being short waisted makes me appear bigger in the middle than i am. lol… if I walked around stretched out on my tip toes, My tummy would be almost completely flat. hahaha

  5. @strawberryfieldsgirl – I look damn good when I’m hanging by my fingertips from something.

  6. @rawtunaandgreens – I’m very excited about DC as I’ve never been before.  Two more weeks until we go.

  7. nice shoes!have a nice weekend!

  11. Nice shoes. I like shoes. I like clothes too. Everything is so pretty. Judi

  12. I’m not fond of mirrors.  I’m not fond of getting older.  But I’m really not fond of the alternative!  Bums me out!
