Day 1 of DC Trip

Started oddly.

Our rental car, a 2009 Prius which is really really cool apparently recently had a broken windshield replaced.  So it’s got a window leak in the windshield, and when we turned the defroster on small shard of glass flew everywhere!  So now the interior of the car is covered in little tiny pieces of glass. 😦  I have one stuck in my finger,  We did take pictures and believe me Enterprise will be hearing about it!

Drive was good, weather was just fine!  Hit the greater DC area at 5:00 pm.  On a Friday.  On a Holiday weekend.  OOPS!  45 minutes to get the last 6 miles!  Hotel is nice.  The nice desk lady upgraded us to a Suite.  It is the size of our first apartment.  Nothing fancy, but BIG!  With a full kitchen. 🙂  Directly next to us is an Embassy on one side, and a liquor store on the other.  Fun soaps.

Wandered out and found a place to eat.  We are right in the midst of all of the student housing so the streets are filled!

I’m taking pictures but the internet connection at the hotel is really bad.  So the only pics will be the ones that I do a mobile upload to Facebook.  Which of course, I’ll do a lot!

  1. You have terrible car luck on vacations!

  2. yes they do.  Can’t blame this one on IOWA

  3. @chaosconfetti – @Ninasusan – AND I brought my new coat…so we’ll see. 🙂  Luckily I enjoy the weird things that happen as well.

  4. no matter what, have a fun holiday!

  5. holy moley…. nothing like glass chards to make a long drive more comfortable!

  6. New windshield for daughter’s car too. I’ll call her and make sure she isn’t hit by glass shards.

  7. wow you have terrible car luck!    but – at least your sense of humor is in tact!  What are we doing Saturday?

  8. Man, glass shards are awful!

  9. I see you were at the Museum of Natural History yesterday, that’s an awesome place isn’t it! There’s so much to do there, I know you’re having a great time! What amazed me while we were there..we stayed near the U. of Maryland, only a couple miles from DC. It was really nice there and in DC. But in between the 2, you had to go thru a very different enviroment, in terms of socioeconomic reality. Kinda reminded me of Niagara Falls in that way.

  10. My husband and I have talked about a trip out east…..sounds like Enterprise has some explaining to do (now imagine that Dezi Arnaz saying that) HEEHEE
