The opera was as lovely as I expected.

This was the venue;

My beautiful red shoes tried to cause me to go lame. MAN did they hurt! 🙂

I love to cook soup but I stopped last year.  First because I was tired and nauseated all the time, then because well I can’t eat it why should I cook it?

But today I am trying this one.

I’m hoping all the cooking will make the onions & carrots not make me sick. For some reason peas do not normally bother me. I had two minor changes (I hope they are minor) to the recipe. Couldn’t find yellow split peas had to use green, picked up mesquite liquid smoke instead of hickory. It’s on the stove simmering right now and it smells pretty darn good.

I went to sleep at about 2:00 am and woke up at 7:00 am. Uhg!  Went to the Y and did a full hour! 30 minutes on the elliptical and 30 on the bike.  I do 60 minutes in a day pretty regularly but it’s usually 30 in the morning and 30 in the evening.  It wasn’t pretty, but it was done. Tonight I think I’ll just curl up with soup & wine and read.

  1. Did all the treatment alter what you can tolerate? or have you changed your diet? Just curious why you can’t eat soup?

  2. That sounds like a relaxing evening 🙂

  3. @beadbrat – Soup in general is just difficult because I am a vegetarian and I try to avoid dairy. Add to that the radiation which did some hopefully not permanent damage to my intestines and I can not eat most fresh vegetables or fruit or anything tomato based. My range of soups has drastically diminished. Mostly I need to stick to canned vegetables though I have started adding frozen back in slowly.

  4. looks like a delicious recipe.I’ve never heard an opera.  I’d like to, some day.

  5. That is the problem with pretty shoes. I bought a pair of Mary Jane’s last night. Crazy comfy. I knew I would have to do a lot of walking at graduation today. Poor Craig’s feet didn’t do as well in his new deck shoes. Hopefully, once they are broken in they won’t hurt so much. I love yellow split pea soup. I haven’t made it in ages. I hope yours is kind to your guts.Way to go for putting in such a great workout!

  6. I went to the opera right after I graduated from high school and loved it.  Haven’t made it back, though.  That hall looks amazing.  Glad you had a good time.

  7. I hope the soup was ok, if not good. Sounds like your evening was good at the opera, except for your shoes, but that’s another story… I hope you will be able to relax this evening.

  8. Soup and wine sounds about right.

  9. Life is too short for shoes that hurt your feet, cheap wine and bad coffee Glad you liked the opera!  I’ve only been once and LOOOOVED it so!  I’d love to go again! How did you do with the soup?

  10. @debbykp – Agreed on all of the above. Soup tasted good but made me extra extra sick for two days! 🙂 Good thing I can freeze it. How are you doing?
